Good News on a Friday Afternoon – A Federation Win for All

The purpose of this E-Mail is to share some good, if not great news as we go into Labor Day Weekend.  As I did my weekly check for changes on the Leadership Team and Staff Directory web pages, something jumped out at me.

SHORT VERSION:

1.  Dr. Tamekia L. Brown is no longer employed by EPISD.

2.  How?  By your courage to bring her misdeeds out of the shadows.

3.  Why?  Hubris, and violating multiple laws, shady dealings and more hubris.

Comment:  This was not accomplished by getting up at a Board meeting, calling everyone and everything racist, ranting, raving, threatening and demanding everyone’s resignation.  That is theater, not advocacy.  And bad theater at that.  It accomplishes nothing positive and a lot of negative.

This was accomplished by gathering information from you, connecting the dots, getting more information, seeing where the threads lead, knowing policy and law and communicating that to the investigators and decision makers in a matter-of-fact manner and having credibility enough that it is taken seriously and not dismissed as sour grapes or ‘just disgruntled employees’.  This takes time, patience and a calm clinical approach.

If Juan Cabrera was the Pope of Privatization using the dogma of Eli Broad’s Disruptive Innovation in EPISD, then Tamekia L. Brown was Disruptive Innovation’s Apostle.  Her departure reduces the harm being done to Public Education and its students and educators by her and her Edtech consultant crew.  Is the threat of Broadism in EPISD gone?

No, but even though there are followers of Broad and Brown still in Academics, their influence is much diminished and their actions (like trying to falsely run up the usage time numbers on their “essential” programs for the Trustees at the expense of teaching and learning) are under much more scrutiny.  The separate chain of command Brown set up is being dismantled.

And, I have been assured that never again will a calendar with contract days for BS PD during intercession will be developed. (Yup, that bright idea and reducing the instructional time at the wrongest time possible was a Tamekia thing.)

So, to the remaining members of Brown’s Broadies, there are 2700 sets of Federation eyes watching you. Remember that.

And to Dr. Brown, who once claimed she was the representative of teachers, not the Federation, bye-bye.

Be Safe, Be Healthy, Be Masked, Be Vaxxed,

Ross
